Fed: Proceeds of crime cash goes to improve disaster victim ID

Almost one million dollars seized from criminals .. will go towards improving disaster
victim identification.

Justice Minister CHRIS ELLISON says 900 thousande dollars seized from crims .. will
go to the National Institute of Forensic Science .. for a project to improve in-field
DNA testing.

It will speed up identification of people killed in disasters.

Senator ELLISON says the project will develop a rapid and cost effective process for
DNA testing able to be used outside laboratories.

He says current techniques for DNA profiling are relatively slow and expensive.
